Submittal Date Sent & Due Date From Engineer Auto Adjusted

I like the setup for Submittal Due Dates on Initial Register Setup but it would seem that there should be a Date Sent to Approver that would be set on the day the submittal was sent in for Approval and the Due From Approver  that had previously been setup would auto re-adjust off of the Date Sent based on the same Days for Approval already set. If a submittal gets sent in earlier than set on the Register, the Due From Approver date does not adjust and there is no indication on the day sent except in the History.

Since this has been flagged as shipped, I've created a new suggestion.

Have we given up on this actually being shipped? On the submittal coversheet template the only due date field is the Due From Approver field which is part of the scheduled days derived from the due on site date, not the date of the last state change + review days set on the project. The due date published and enforced to the approver needs to be the In Review Date + days for approving established in the Submittal Project Settings.

I'm not sure what was "Shipped" but the Due From Approver  date is still not being reset based on the Days for Approval from the actual day it item was submitted.

This too recently bit us on a project. we issued out and also submitted in a bunch of submittals without due dates. I echo for our company that we want to see a due date auto-populate when a state is changed. Not everyone wants to manage the submittal process the whole job so most of the time we don't enter a due on site date which is the only thing that drives the population of the due dates for subs / designers. This seems like a simple trigger add that I hope Viewpoint can do in a coming release.

Thanks for everyone's input and votes. Tell your coworkers to vote too, higher the count better chance to move up in Design. Also be aware (which you probably are) the dates sometime default back to original dates inputted if you edit the Sbmtl and on the Revision.

It seems like if your intent to use this tool rather than VISTA to track submittal's then you need to have the actual returned dates fall on the grid.  These dates are critical to how we do business and as it is the dates will have to be filled in on the VISTA submittal so that we can continue to have  log for the owners.

Jumping on this bandwagon to suggest that the Due to/from Dates (I’d call these schedule dates) should stay as they calculate, but there should be an additional field for a due date that is calculated from the actual date a submittal is Issued/Submitted/Sent For Review/Approved/Rejected, based on the review days set up for the project for the given reviewer. This should be the due date that shows on the email notification, in the Assigned to Me Due Date and also be what triggers it to be a red action item. If I’m ahead on my submittals I don’t want to give the sub or the architect the idea that they have any more time than the 5-10 days to respond that is outlined in the contract.

Following up on submittal dates above. Just got my first few submittals returned today from the Engineer. When they were returned to me it put the submittal in my list on home page which is sorted by due date which is great, only thing the submittal due date reflects the date due on site instead of a predetermined number of days following the date received back. In a case for submersible pumps that have a long lead time, typically 22 weeks for procurement, it put due date in December which was the date due on site. My list is pretty long now and just getting started on the project so had to scroll down to find it. Could have lost critical days if I had not known it was returned.
