It would be nice if there was a way to notify project collaborators if new documents were uploaded to the documents section. For example, if I uploaded steel erection field use drawings. It would be nice to be able to notify the steel erector that they are available, rather then sending a separate email.

I am in a similar situation to users below. We have some projects that we similarly need to be able to notify the project team of updates. We moved from Procore with the expectation that this was a similar platform and now we are stuck with a temporary solution. This needs to be a permanent option
Unfortunately this still doesn't work for us because if we have 10 contacts with access to a folder then need to send them an email, the list it shows with the new share feature lists all 100 of our Team contacts so we still have to manually sift through the list, which is not in alphabetical order, to find the 10 that should receive the email. We're having to print screen the user setup on the folder first to know how should receive the email.
This is our biggest issue, that items get uploaded, but nobody knows. We need a notification when the Architect uploads Bulletins, or we upload meeting minutes or anything else.
@Mercedes - The manual version does solve the problem described in the original suggestion here, but we would like to provide an automatic share option in the future. I have supported and implemented other document management systems that have an auto-notify feature - in most cases customers try it out and disable it a few weeks later because the "noise" it generates is too high, which is why we started with the simpler manual version. With automatic notifications we'll try to minimize this effect with things like batching all updates for a given timeframe, but that does add some complexity. Keep an eye on this suggestion for updates on the automatic version.
@Bobby - thanks for raising this - other notifications (RFIs for example) deep link you into the app and documents should too - we will look into this
Sam
Good start on notification but when link to file is clicked using Anroid phone or Tablet nothing happens due to link takes you to Web Browser instead of App. Viewing files from Web Browser on phone or Tablet does not work, you have to download instead of view. Viewing from App works fine but since the link does not open App version the link is no good for mobile device. Please look into this.
Thank You,

Hi Sam a manual process to select users to send an email is not what the suggestion is. We would like an automated notifications when new files are uploaded. There are 61 votes for this. Can we please get this suggestion back to unshipped?
This was released in the 2019-R6 release (Thursday 6/6) - it's a manual share process that lets you multi-select files or folders (details here) and send a notification out to anyone that has access to the folder you're in. Anyone on the list gets an email with a direct link to the selected files/folders. It doesn't allow for selection of distribution groups yet but we'll work to get that included.
This has been changed to Shipped but we are not receiving notifications.
What does “shipped” mean? Is there an expected release date?

If this can happen, we would like the option of turning on/off notifications on certain folders. For example, we don't want notifications on our drawing folders since this may send off 5-10 emails in one day as more and more consultants upload their drawings, but would like them on our meetings or reports folders.
Yes this is crucial to have, and Viewpoints biggest downfall, information is useless if you can’t notify your project team of new items. Distribution lists should be available for RFI’s as well having to type your entire project TEAM as a CC on every answered RFI is not user friendly.
Is there no progress on this? We have some PMs that will not use Team documents and share with collaborators until this feature is available. We need to know when new documents are added to folder.
It would be best to have the "Send Notifications" checkbox on the permissions page of each folder that is being shared. Some folders we use internally and update a lot so wouldn't want those notifications to be sent.
