If there was a way to select multiple types of submittals this would help cut down on multiple data entry. For instance: when creating a submittal, you can check submittal, Shop drawings, and O&M, which would create multiple entry's with the same tile and the same person/company responsible party.

Dear Viewpoint Suggestion Box contributor;
We at Viewpoint sincerely thank you for your contribution to Suggestion Box on how we can improve Viewpoint products. While we can’t do everything at once, we rely upon your feedback to help guide the prioritization of our product improvements, and Suggestion Box is a critical tool for us to understand and prioritize our customers’ needs.
Viewpoint reviews Suggestion Box regularly for all of our products and updates statuses, adds comments, and performs various house-keeping (including deleting) as needed to ensure that Suggestion Box is maintained as a productive environment for product enhancements requests.

Any update or thoughts on this from Viewpoint? We were thinking of having the ability to combine separate submittal items (i.e. submittal #90 Painting - Product Data, #90.1 Painting - Samples, #90.2 Painting - Attic Stock etc.) into a single submittal to avoid having extremely large submittal logs, and to avoid deleting submittals or closing with comments referring to another submittal.
Similar to 'bulk editing' a user could 'bulk submit' in one submittal.
Please, Please, Please add this feature.
One way I've found to work around this is to note the submittal numbers of everything you are submitting in one package in the comments or within the submittal itself and close out the remaining items at one time. Using your example, if you send "submittal", "shop drawings", and "O&M" in one package all together in the "submittal" item, you can close out shop drawing and O&M in your register using the "Actions" button and note that these two items are submitted in "submittal"
It's faster and cleaner than doing double/triple/etc. entry for a big submittal package, but I do agree that being able to group the items together during the original submission would be much faster. This could be done either by Spec Section, Package, Contractor, etc.
