When looking at the submittal attachments, the "Upload New Version" to replace an old file, is a great feature and helps keep current information accessible on top, with the previous files still accessible if needed. HOWEVER, currently if the Architect or General Contractor uploads the incorrect PDF over the subcontractors existing, and try to delete the incorrect file, they all get erased. We as administrators/Project Editors need the ability to delete a Version.
Example:
Attachment/Version 1: Subcontractor Original File for Lockers
Attachment/Version 2: Architect Response File for Gym Floor (not Lockers accidentally)
Currently we have three options to fix this:
Option 1: Currently the most convenient option as the Architect can fix it on their own, yet leaves potential for confusion. Have the Architect add an "Attachment/Version 3: Architect Response File for Lockers" covering up the accidental file, but leaving it there possibly creating confusion in the future.
Option 2: Currently the quickest option for the Administrator/Project Editor, but removes documents for tracking purposes. Delete the file and it deletes all Versions, including the Subcontractors original file. The Architect can then upload their response to the blank submittal.
Option 3: A work around that takes the most time to fix, that could be achieved much quicker by the push of a "delete version" button (my suggestion). Yes, there is the potential to first download the subcontractor's original file to your computer by opening Version 1. Then delete the incorrect file (which deletes all versions) so you are back to a blank Submittal. Then re-upload the Subcontractors original to keep it for document control and tracking purposes, and put it back in the Architect's court to upload their final response.
