Allow Collaborators to have the ability to read/write in Submittals / RFI's but read only rights on certain Docs. We have also heard limit other permissions in Docs. The story sounds like doc folder security should not inherit Contact permissions but maybe have check boxes for:
- Read only access
- May upload documents
- May create revisions

If we allowed you to keep the current concept of the three roles (editor, collaborator, reviewer) and apply them to individual folders, would that solve your need?
So rather than assuming your access to a folder based on your project-level access, we'd allow you to choose the access for users by folder as you added them to it?

We use Sharefile (looking to get away from it once TEAM progresses to the point we can drop Sharefile) and typically most folders are read only and we set upload folders for Vendors to allow file transfers. Usually I set a folder for each Project Firm so as to keep privacy from other Firms. We are awaiting this function in TEAM

This type of permissions already exists in most file sharing platforms. If you look at sharefile's system you will see exactly how this should function.

What I was hearing was by user by folder. So you may want read only on Drawings/specs or other "boiler plate" types docs while opening up rights on doc folders like commissioning, handover. Could it be by organization, maybe. I suggest getting some targeted feedback in this area from multiple interested customers / prospects so like you say "we don't over complicate it.."

How would users want to manage who has these permissions? Agree we need more granular, I just want to be cautious that we don't make it too complicated to manage, its a slippery slope. Would this be by individual user? By organization? Some other grouping mechanism?
