Currently, if submittal auto-numbering is enabled and Project and Spec Section is selected it will number each uniquely by spec section but the single digit number is confusing.
It would be great if it would take the spec section and add a sequence number eg: 03000-001.
Adding functionality to set a format for the auto number may make it more palatable for everyone so customers could decide if they wanted seq number then spec or spec then seq.

Submittal auto number by project and spec does not seem to work. Anyone out there using this?

Or have the ability to see what your last number was, like it does for package.

Best way to do it from my eyes would be to be able to define a company or project wide sort of "input mask" where you could define your own naming sequence and it would grab things you tell it to such as project number and spec section and increment a certain value

Hyphen is what we currently use. Have used decimal point in past.

IMO, it would be a hyphen, but I'm sure others will have differing opinions.
As far as digits, I think 3 would be sufficient. I think it would be rare for a project to have more than 999 submittals in a single spec section.
Incrementing by 1 would be preferable. creating gaps would seemingly only create questions of completeness of logs and such.

Additional Questions:
Would this need to include a separator selection? (ex: "-" or ".")
Number of digits for sequence number?
Continue to auto increment by 1?
