We have not found a scenario where we would prefer subcontractors are entering their own RFI's. It is still the Project admin's responsibility to review and send this RFI to the Architect, so having the subcontractor create their own RFI's does not simplify the work stream. We would prefer that the subcontractor as a collaborator does not have the ability to create RFI's, they only have the ability to review and respond/answer to RFI's.

We are finding that when a RFI is created by a subcontractor, and an answer is returned from the architect, that answer goes directly to the subcontractor instead of first coming to the contractor for review. The subcontractor is then able to mark the RFI as answered, and a redundant email is sent to them (the subcontractor) stating that the RFI has been answered. It should go through the contractor first for review, then when the subcontractor marks as answered, the email should go to the contractor to then mark the RFI as closed.
When an RFI is forwarded from an architect to an engineer for example, The response is visible to the contractor before the architect releases the RFI back to the contractor’s court. Responses at every step of the process should be private between the two parties corresponding until it is released to another party.
We also do not allow our subs/vendors to create RFIs. And I am interested in seeing more granular security through all of the modules (Submittals, Daily Logs, Issues, etc).
Yes, INT-RFI's is working good to control RFI's from Subs & Vendors to go to the Project Manager and flow controlled by them as far answering, forwarding to another Vendor/Sub or issuing a Related RFI to A/E.
Thank You,
Bobby Asbury

Good input on this suggestion.
Where we will make enhancements will be in our security and authorization. We have had requests to separate upstream (customers/architects) collaborators form down stream (subs/suppliers) collaboraters. This would allow more control for who can do what/when. That way we can provide a setting for you to use if you prefer to not allow sub to create RFIs.
I will say overall, the community of customers we have worked with wanted to allow their subs/suppliers the ability to create RFIs.
We are finding the ability for Subcontractors and Suppliers to create INT-RFI's is a great tool added in the recent update. We set those RFI's to come to the PM and they can answer or create a related RFI to the A/E. Better than email and helps keeping it in you Items Assigned list. Would be helpful that if RFII is answered and closed you could also have an option to close the Related INT-RFI at same time. I say way to go TEAM.
