Please modify drawing set scans to use OCR technology

After attending collaborate I thought that the new "Auto-Detect Highlighted Regions" when uploading Drawing Sets used OCR technology to grab the Sheet Number and Sheet Name from a drawing (like Procore uses).

After many tests with random drawing sets, some sets will not work.  I was told from support that the feature does not use OCR technology and if it cannot detect true text from the drawing, we have to use Bluebeam's OCR to first convert it, then try re-uploading.  This means no scanned copies of any drawing will work, nor any drawing that has its sheet numbers or names as images, or many other reasons we cannot control.

Important: If characters are not recognized when you use any of the highlight region tools, you can do one of the following:

  • Request PDFs with searchable text from the originator of your drawings
  • Manually correct any incorrect text prior to publishing
  • Consider using Adobe Acrobat Pro or Bluebeam OCR with vertical text recognition
