There is no way to pull in the "work summary" into a report. There is no data field annotated for this. I would like to be able to pull in the work summary across all projects for a week perhaps and provide that either on an executive report or executive dashboard.

Its not a difficult thing you just need to download work summary and then convert it into report by using google. There are many websites on google that are converting work summary into report. I always used the same method to make report of Clopton capital. It is one of the best and easiest method.
