I was so excited to see that Distribution Groups are now available in Documents and Drawings, but then immediately disappointed that it's not for adding users to document permissions.
What this new feature does is allow a folder to be "shared" (Shared is not a good word as it doesn't set the sharing permissions and is just a link share) to a group. The users in the group would then get an email with the folder.
What this then forces is the users to keep these emails at hand whenever they need to access those files because when they log into Team, they don't have access to those folders. We will have to manually add each person to the permissions of the folder one by one. New user? Try and remember all the folder they should have access to and manually add versus what I thought this feature was and just add them to the group thus getting access to all those folders.
Perhaps it may be worthy to rename the "Share" feature to "Send" as it doesn't share folders but is instead used to send email links.
Please allow the Document permissions to be applied by Distribution Groups.
