As I was inviting all salespersons to TEAM this morning I came across two duplicate contacts with the same email address. Trying to add a duplicate gives the "already exist" growler but somehow these duplicates got into the system. Since email is the "key" this duplicate should not have existed. I cannot track down how it happened but it did. I was able to delete the duplicates.

Adding images of duplicate contacts as seen in TEAM
I was able to replicate this, Browse PM Firm Contacts, add contacts. The ones added do not clear so if you press add contacts again they are duplicated. If you search again they cannot be added so those are validated.
In PM Firm Contacts we used SQL "Set" on all emails addresses giving "FirstName.LastName123@nomail.com" intentionally early on to avoid any spamming. Two sales team members were added to TEAM later. Brent was one. He is in PM Firm Contacts as of 2/6/17 only once as Brent.Kuenzi@viewpoint.com so that was added from TEAM but he was on an individual TEAM project contact list twice as Brent.Kuenzi@viewpoint.com. He was only in Admin>users once however. I know, a hard one to chase down...
Was this because the contact was in Vista PM firm contacts? Or was it in the Team database?
